Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

The wellbeing Hub

Mudgee Public School’s Well-being Hub is a dedicated safe space designed to support students in regulating their emotions and engaging in sensory-based activities that promote calm, focus, and emotional growth.

Staffed by a full time Learning and Wellbeing Coordinator and a part-time Wellbeing Support Officer, The Hub plays a vital role in nurturing student mental health and wellbeing.

It hosts a range of small group programs such as Seasons for Growth, friendship and resilience programs, and tailored mentoring groups, all aimed at developing emotional literacy and social skills.

The Hub also provides a welcoming environment for a number of external therapists who work one-on-one with students, ensuring individual needs are met in a supportive and confidential setting.

Adding to its unique charm and therapeutic offerings, The Hub is also home to the school’s beloved chickens. These feathered friends are a key part of “chicken therapy,” providing students with a calming, hands-on way to connect with nature, practise responsibility, and regulate their emotions through gentle interaction and care.
