Podcasting
Mudgee Public School has two engaging podcasts: The Hive and The Inclusive Classroom. These platforms offer students a unique opportunity to share their thoughts, opinions, and knowledge with our school community and beyond. The Hive amplifies student voice and provides a modern, creative way for learners to connect, communicate, and shine. The Inclusive Classroom is geared at collaborating with educators as it focuses on inclusive education and supporting students with disabilities.
Tournament of the Minds
Mudgee Public School is proud to offer students the opportunity to compete in Tournament of Minds, a challenging and enriching competition that encourages creative thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving. This experience allows students to showcase their talents in areas such as language literature, STEM, the arts, and social sciences, while developing confidence, collaboration skills, and a love for learning beyond the classroom.
Game Changer
Mudgee Public School offers students the exciting opportunity to take part in Game Changer, a dynamic competition that challenges young minds to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively to solve real-world problems. Through this experience, students become innovative thinkers and confident communicators, developing future-focused skills while working as a team to design solutions that can make a real difference.
PSSA Sport
Mudgee Public School provides students with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of PSSA sports, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical wellbeing. Whether competing in netball, soccer, cricket, rugby league, or other sports, students develop their skills, represent their school with pride, and enjoy the benefits of being active and engaged in a supportive team environment.
Creative Arts
Mudgee Public School celebrates the creative arts by offering students a variety of opportunities to express themselves through music and performance. With a vibrant school band, dedicated guitar and violin groups, talented choirs, and energetic dance groups, students can explore their artistic talents, build confidence, and share their creativity with the wider community through performances and events.
Debating and Public Speaking
Mudgee Public School offers students valuable opportunities to develop their communication skills through participation in debating teams and public speaking events. These experiences encourage critical thinking, confidence, and persuasive speaking, allowing students to express their ideas clearly and respectfully while competing and collaborating with peers in a supportive environment.
Student Leadership
Each year, Mudgee Public School elects a dedicated team of student leaders from Year 6 to represent and support the school community. This team consists of two School Captains, two Vice Captains, and four Prefects, ensuring a strong and diverse leadership group. The Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects are elected by both staff and students, recognising their leadership qualities, commitment to the school, and ability to be positive role models.
At Mudgee Public School our Student Leadership Structure is designed to expand leadership opportunities and foster meaningful student engagement. Each class elect two Student Representative Council (SRC) representatives, doubling student involvement and ensuring a broader range of voices.
The SRC consists of 8 Student Leaders, House Captains and Vice Captains, 2 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representatives, and the elected Class Representatives. To enhance leadership experiences, the SRC and student leadership team are organised into 6 portfolios, each focusing on key areas of school improvement and student participation. This structure aims to empower students, develop leadership skills, and provide greater opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to the school community.
